Friday, October 7 – Birders’ Soiree

Join Michigan Audubon for an evening of entertainment, gourmet food, and a special presentation by star birdwatcher, Caleb Putnam, Michigan’s Important Bird Area Coordinator.  The event will take place from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at the Convis Township Hall.  One attendee will walk away with a free 10×42 binocular, courtesy of Eagle Optics.  Additional prizes will be part of a fundraising auction.

Reservations for the keynote banquet are required. The cost for food, drink, and Caleb’s presentation is $30 for Michigan Audubon members and $40 for non-members.  All funds raised go to support Michigan Audubon education programs and CraneFest.

Saturday, October 8 & Sunday, October 9

Audubon Society of KalamazooEvents and artist exhibits will be open from Noon until sunset (about 7 p.m.).

“Fly-in” of Sandhill Cranes begins slowly around 4 p.m. with the best viewing of large numbers of cranes between 5 p.m. and sunset.

A wildlife art show and sale, located on the grounds, will take place throughout the day.  30 artists are confirmed andwill display and sell their artwork.

Guided Nature Walks – explore the nature trails with a local naturalist. Walks leave the pavilion every half-hour, beginning at 12:30 pm, with the last walk leaving at 4:30 pm.

Hillside nature chats Hillside Nature Chats – hear from some of the top local nature experts on a wide range of topics. Hillside chats are a great way to kick back, take in a view of Big Marsh Lake, and learn something new!  Chats take place every half-hour, beginning at 2:15, with the last program–Sandhill Cranes 101–beginning at 6:15 pm.

All Day – face-painting, heritage hay rides, live birds of prey, exotic critters, non-profit displays, self-guided bird migration game, kids’ nature crafts, and more!
